A competition will be hosted by PHP.net.my in conjunction with MSC Open Source Conference 2009 and will be held in Berjaya Time Square Hotel and Convention Centre Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from May 31st (Sunday) to the 3rd of June (Wednesday) 2009.
We would like to invite all the members from PHP.net.my and anyone who is interested to join the committee. The contest will be held 2 weeks before the actual event that ends on the 31st of May 2009 and the winner will be announced on that same day.
The winner of the competition will be granted cash prizes totaling RM 10,000.00 for all 5 categories. The prize money is sponsored by Microsoft Malaysia.
For now, PHP.net.my will choose 20 applications in 5 categories
1.Forum
2.Groupware
3.Blog
4.eCommerce
5.CMS/Portal
All the applications above will be asked to support the main database of MSSQL 2008. The applications are yet to be determine but in my opinion, it would be related to Wordpress, Drupal and PHPBB.
The terms and conditions for the approved application must be the support of the main database for MSSQL. There may be a training or free courses that will be held in KL on “HOW TO” use PHP with the support of MSSQL and also on how to connect PHP with MSSQL using the existing drivers in PHP or PDO. (These workshops will also be sponsored by Microsoft)
The first steps required are:
1.Participation of Volunteers
2.Suggestions for related applications. Please note again that there are 20 application in 5 categories.
With this I hope that all the members of PHP.net.my will contribute ideas to the competition and help in raising the image of PHP.net.my. On MDeC side, participation can also improve opportunities for funding future developers. I will be updating the community from time to time with regards to this competition within this forum.
Please start you discussion. TQ
p/s: all the source code in the competition will be contributed back to the community (AND REMAIN OPEN SOURCE)

http://cikgucyber.blogspot.com/2008/11/projek-terjemahan-bahasa-melayu.html

Awas Penipuan Kad Kredit Melalui Telepon
April 11th, 2008 by linuxmalaysiaAwas Penipuan Kad Kredit Melalui Telepon
http://cikgucyber.blogspot.com/2008/04/awas-penipuan-kad-kredit-melalui.html
Jangan dedahkan apa-apa maklumat.
Nombor tersebut yang dipanggil Card Verification Value or Code (CVV or CVC). Jangan sesekali dedahkan.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Card_Security_Code
(2) Jangan dedahkan maklumat anda.

MAMPU Migrates to OpenOffice.org
March 19th, 2008 by linuxmalaysiaMAMPU Migrates to OpenOffice.org
Putrajaya, 19th March 2008 - The Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management
Planning Unit (MAMPU), today officially adopts a policy to migrate to the OpenOffice.org
open source productivity suite. This is in line with the Malaysian Public Sector Open
Source Master Plan, which calls for government agencies to reduce costs, increase freedom
of choice and interoperability.
From April 1st, MAMPU will start adopting the OpenDocument Format (ODF), standard for all
new documents created. ODF the ISO open standard for electronic documents is also the
default format for OpenOffice.org. The agency will also uninstall all copies of Microsoft
Office by the end of 2008.
To ensure a smooth migration, presently over 80 agency staff have been trained by the
Open Source Competency Centre (OSCC). Additional staff will then be trained internally by
the IT department, which will also provide support for OpenOffice.org.

Introduction
http://cmsfornerd.sourceforge.net/
CmsForNerd is really for nerd. You need to know basic HTML, CSS and PHP to maintain it because it is not like any other content Management Software or CMS. We build CmsForNerd because we want to learn about HTML and how to code in PHP.
CmsForNerd is for a small website, with static contents that not always need to be change. CmsForNerd is not using any database. We want a CMS that it is simple, easy to backup and recovery because we don’t want to be worried about any lost of data in database due to hardware failure.
We also build CmsForNerd so it is search engine friendly to Google and Yahoo. You can used HTML Validator add-on for Mozilla Firefox to validate yout HTML page.
